The aim of this Workplace Hazards and Risk training course is to provide learners with the essential knowledge and practical awareness required to identify common workplace hazards, understand basic risk concepts, and contribute to safer work practices.
The course supports learners to recognise situations that may cause harm, consider the level of risk, follow workplace health and safety procedures, and report hazards or safety concerns through appropriate workplace channels.
By completing this course, learners will build confidence in applying basic hazard identification and risk awareness skills in real workplace or simulated workplace environments, helping to protect themselves, their colleagues, customers, clients, and others who may be affected by workplace activities.

This Workplace Hazards and Risk training course is designed for workers, job seekers, trainees, apprentices, volunteers, supervisors, team leaders, and workplace participants who need to develop or refresh their understanding of workplace hazards, risk awareness, and safe work practices.
The course is suitable for learners entering a workplace for the first time, returning to work, undertaking vocational training, or working in environments where they are required to identify hazards, assess basic risks, follow workplace health and safety procedures, and report safety concerns appropriately.
It is particularly relevant to learners working or seeking work in industries such as energy supply/distribution, construction, manufacturing, horticulture, warehousing, transport, and general labouring roles.
Learners are expected to have basic English language, literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to read simple workplace safety information, follow verbal and written instructions, complete basic workplace forms, and participate in practical safety-related activities.

On successful completion of this Workplace Hazards and Risk training course, learners will have developed the knowledge and practical awareness required to recognise common workplace hazards, understand basic risk concepts, and contribute to a safer work environment.
Learners will be able to:
Recognise common hazards in a range of workplace settings, including physical, environmental, manual handling, chemical, biological, psychosocial, and electrical hazards.
Explain the relationship between hazards, risk, likelihood, consequence, and potential harm.
Consider how serious a hazard may be and who could be affected.
Report hazards and risks
Communicate safety concerns to supervisors or relevant personnel using appropriate workplace reporting processes.
Contribute to a positive safety culture by taking reasonable care for their own health and safety and considering the safety of others.
Take basic action within the limits of their role to reduce immediate risk and seek assistance where required.

Stationary (e.g. Pen, Pencil, etc.)

Learners will be assessed using a combination of the following methods:
Theory/Written Assessment (e.g. Short Answer Questions, Multiple Choice, Verbal Questioning Interview)
Direct Observation/Practical Assessment (e.g. implement and apply Workplace Hazard and Risk Assessment procedures).

Be at least 15 years of age, or
Meet applicable workplace, school, or jurisdictional requirements for participation in vocational education or workplace safety training.
Participants under 18 years of age may require parent/guardian consent.
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements
Participants should possess LLN skills sufficient to:
Read and understand simple safety instructions, signs, and hazard warnings.
Understand basic workplace procedures explained verbally or in writing.
Communicate hazards, risks, and safety concerns using simple spoken or written language.
Complete simple learning and assessment activities such as short questions, checklists, or discussions.

This course is designed for workers, supervisors, contractors, and frontline personnel across all industries, including construction, manufacturing, utilities, mining, warehousing, transport, agriculture, and community services.
It is ideal for anyone who performs tasks in environments where physical, chemical, electrical, biological, psychosocial, or environmental hazards may be present—and who must be able to correctly identify, assess, and control risks as part of daily work activities.
Participants may include qualified tradespeople, operators, team leaders, apprentices, and site personnel with existing WHS responsibilities or basic safety training. They typically operate in environments with structured safety systems, documented safe-work procedures, and established workplace risk-management processes. Their work often involves hazard identification, risk assessment, and contributing to safe work practices.

This course equips supervisors with the practical skills and confidence to lead safe, compliant, and productive workplaces. Participants will strengthen their ability to identify hazards, manage risks, apply WHS legislation, and promote a positive safety culture within their teams.
Designed for frontline leaders across a range of industries, the course focuses on real-world supervisory responsibilities — from conducting inspections and leading safety conversations to managing incidents and ensuring workers follow safe work procedures.
By the end of the course, supervisors will be better prepared to reduce risk, meet legal obligations, and create safer working environments where safety is actively led, not just managed.

This Workplace Health and Safety for Supervisors training course is designed for current and emerging supervisors, team leaders, leading hands, coordinators, managers, and workers who have responsibility for supporting, monitoring, or influencing workplace health and safety practices.
The course is suitable for learners who supervise staff, contractors, volunteers, apprentices, trainees, or work teams, and who are required to understand their role in promoting safe work practices, identifying hazards, managing risk, responding to incidents, and supporting compliance with workplace health and safety procedures.
It is particularly relevant to learners working in industries such as energy supply/distribution, construction, manufacturing, warehousing, transport, horticulture, maintenance, and general operational environments.
Learners are expected to have sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and communication skills to read workplace safety procedures, interpret basic WHS information, complete workplace forms or reports, communicate safety expectations to others, and participate in practical supervisory safety activities. Additional learner support may be available where reasonable adjustments are required.

On successful completion of this Workplace Health and Safety for Supervisors training course, learners will have developed the knowledge and practical skills required to support safe work practices, monitor workplace risk, and contribute to effective WHS compliance within a supervisory role.
Learners will be able to:
Understand supervisory WHS responsibilities - Recognise the role of supervisors in supporting workplace health and safety, duty of care, consultation, risk management, and compliance with workplace procedures.
Identify workplace hazards - Recognise common hazards affecting workers, contractors, volunteers, visitors, customers, and others in the workplace.
Assess and manage risk - Apply basic risk assessment principles to consider likelihood, consequence, level of risk, and suitable control measures.
Support safe work practices - Monitor work activities, promote compliance with WHS procedures, and encourage workers to follow safe systems of work.
Communicate WHS requirements - Provide clear safety instructions, raise concerns, consult with workers, and support effective WHS communication within teams.
Respond to incidents and hazards - Take appropriate action when hazards, near misses, incidents, or unsafe practices are identified, including reporting and escalation.
Maintain WHS records - Complete or support workplace WHS documentation such as hazard reports, incident reports, risk assessments, checklists, and corrective action records.
